Pastor Moise & Mary Bukenya
Pastor Moise Bukenya moved to Rwanda in 2000 to begin planting a church. In 2015, Pastor Moise and his wife Mary saw a need within his local community for children who were unable to attend school. Together, they founded and own Heritage Christian School with the vision to provide an affordable Christ-centered education for children in Karama - Kanombe to succeed and thrive in primary school.
Pastor Moise and Mary own and oversee the day to day operations of Heritage Christian School. Heritage Christian currently has a staff of 5 teachers and 6 classrooms.
Pastor Moise and Mary have five children, Lorie, Deborah, Jay, Josiah, and Isaiah.
Sara Wilhelm, United States Liaison
In 2018, while on an 11 month mission trip called the World Race, Sara Wilhelm met and fell in love with the mission and vision of Pastor Moise for the children of Rwanda. After returning to the states, she partnered with Pastor Moise to further develop, advocate and support Heritage Christian School.
Sara works full time as the Local Ministry Director for Magnolia Ministries, a partner of Raising a Voice. Raising a Voice was founded in 2016 with a heart to end exploitation of vulnerable people and human trafficking around the globe. Raising a Voice operates as an umbrella organization for ministries and organizations in Knoxville, TN, Nairobi, Kenya, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Kigali, Rwanda.
Today, Raising a Voice serves as a fiscal sponsor for Heritage Christian School and works alongside the school to create long-term sustainability. Sara Wilhelm works as a liaison for the school within the United States.
